FPC Receives Generous Bequest from Estate of Wilhemina Phinney

Frannie Peabody Center is proud to be the recipient of a generous bequest of $40,000 from the Estate of Wilhemina Phinney.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Phinney's son Peter contracted HIV early in the history of the epidemic and later died of AIDS.  Shortly before his death, Peter asked Wilhelmina to make the Frannie Peabody Center donation upon her own passing.  In paying tribute to the memory of the younger Phinney's struggle with the disease, Mrs. Phinney's wish was to memorialize her son through their joint desire to assist others who struggle with HIV/AIDS. We are honored by the Phinney family's commitment to improving the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS in the state of Maine and would like to extend our deepest gratitude for their selfless generosity.

If you or any of your own family members are interested in making memorial donations or bequests, please contact Ed Corley, Director of Development at ecorley@peabodycenter.org

Grants Awarded to Frannie Peabody Center

FPC has recently received generous grants from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the Haffenraffer Family Fund, the Roy Hunt Foundation, the Maine Community AIDS Partnership (MCAP), the Maine Community Foundation (Maine Equity Fund), the Donato Tramuto Foundation, the Town of Ogunquit and the Wal-Mart Foundation. Grants like these play a vital role in our ability to provide services to clients and outreach to those at risk, and we are honored to have their support.

Executive Director Attends Johnson & Johnson Executive Program
Chosen after a highly selective national search, FPC Executive Director, Patti Capouch, recently attended the UCLA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Executive Program, a management development program exclusively for Executive Directors and leaders of community-based health care organizations in the U.S.

For two intensive weeks at The Anderson School of UCLA, approximately 40 national directors, including Patti, engaged in a program providing new tools, techniques and approaches to confront mounting healthcare challenges in our community. This unique program was funded entirely by Johnson & Johnson at no cost to FPC. Patti and FPC would like to extend our gratitude to Johnson & Johnson for making this impactful program possible.

Annual Beach and Bay 5K Run/Walks for AIDS Thank You
Frannie Peabody Center would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Beach & Bay 5k Run/Walks for AIDS in Ogunquit and Portland. Participants came out to both locales on great early summer days to support our cause and clients.

Thank you again to all who donated or participated. We couldn't have done it without you and are already in the planning process to make 2011 our best year yet!
